A poor attempt at a fall garden

August 2010: We were late in moving in and had so many other things going on we did not even try to get a garden going for the summer. I did decide where it should go, so I sprayed the lawn with Roundup to kill the grass. It will be a lot smaller garden than ours in Utah but should be big enough for me and Lori. As it got towards fall I thought I might like to try some fall peas so I tilled the garden and planted the seeds. The peas came up pretty fast and looked really good. I thought, "This is going to work out great". One morning I went out to water the peas. When I went out 1/2 the garden had been eaten down to nothing. I tried to watch to see what was eating the garden but it must have been coming during the middle of the night. Within a day or two the entire garden was completely gone. As you can see from the picture on the right we have deer all around. This is from our deck looking into our neighbors yard. I have also seen rabbits. We will have to figure out what we need to do to keep the animals out of the garden.
